Harrell's Hunnies
This week has been a BIG week for the whole Schlieman Clan; Mackenna started daycare Monday morning at Harrell's Hunnies Daycare in Eden Prairie. We were referred to this in-home provider, Pati, by several different people that I work with and had a wonderful interview with her not too long ago; she and Mackenna instantly connected. She has a faith based program and runs a mini school with wonderful curriculum. Her basement has been transformed into a classroom, play area and so much more. She has music time on Tuesdays with another teacher that comes in that day and story and puppet time on Thursdays. She has 10 kids, 3 of them infants and all girls AND all with their first birthdays coming up in June!!!! Pati has one full time helper named Jessica and another part time helper named Patty.
We feel so lucky to have found this daycare and as quickly as we did since we were kind of on a time crunch...she has made this transition for all of us so much easier. Monday when I dropped her off I was a puddle, but now 2 days later, I'm doing a whole lot better and knowing how much fun Mackenna is having puts our hearts at ease. Every day I have picked her up, she seems to be so happy!! Pati sends me updates as she can, which is wonderful! And a great addition is she's helping introduce a lot of new solid foods to her; apparently she loves chicken nuggets and bananas!!! We of course have been introducing new foods, but have been a little timid with what we can and can't give her, so we like that she's helping with that, but of course with SO MUCH MORE!!!!
It's been a really hard week, but one that we are happy about all at the same time. Mackenna loves Pati and in turn we love Pati!!!!
Check out her Facebook page for videos and pictures from time to time:

My friend Izze....
Back in the beginning of April my friend Brandi and her little girl, Izze, were in town visiting family and friends! Kenna and I were lucky enough to spend some time with them one Sunday morning! We got some coffee and then headed to Edinborough Park to play for awhile! It was great seeing them and we miss them a bunch already...Come Back SOON!!!!
Fun Days with Mama
Last week I took some PTO and 'Work from Home Days' to be with my little peanut since Daycare didn't start until April 25th. We were able to have some GREAT times together including going to the Mall of America to walk around, heading to the park to swing and just being lazy together, it was great!!!!! A wonderful way to head into what we knew was going to be a hard week dropping her off for the first time.
CELEBRATION!!!
As most of you know by now, Nate got a new job with Image Trend in Lakeville, MN as an implementation specialist (Funny, we are both trainers now!) and life has started to get just a bit sweeter. It's been a wonderful couple weeks for us; a bit overwhelming since we're moving YET AGAIN!!!!!! But all good changes are happening!
When we had a moment, we decided to head to the MOA to go to lunch at Crave to celebrate the BIG NEWS and then we took Mackenna on the Carousel for the first time...she and Daddy had a great time!
We'll post some pictures of our new house when we get settled and organized!!!!!

9 Month Pics
On Saturday morning last week, we took Kenna over to JCP to get some 9 month photos done! She didn't have many smiles (now we know why since she was working on the sick thing), but managed to still get some ADORABLE moments on film. With Easter so close, we got a few Easter themed shots as well! ENJOY!
What a Week...
So for the first time since Kenna was born, she got very sick this past week with a severe ear infection in BOTH ears & Croup :(
We took her into urgent care Saturday evening and were sent home 10 min later telling us all was clear. We knew all wasn't clear as she wasn't her smiley, happy self, wasn't eating and sleep was almost non-existent! With my little brother Rob getting croup several times as a baby, I thankfully remembered that going in the bathroom with the door closed and turning the shower on as hot as it could go to steam her, then let her breath the cold air outside for a couple seconds, was a great way to open her chest and lungs; so we did this a couple times on Sunday to try and help her little cough and breathing, which was becoming more and more difficult. For the time being, it helped as much as it could...
When Monday morning rolled around her temp was 101.7 and we knew we had to get her in right away. When Nate arrived at the doc (I couldn't leave work unfortunately) she was in bad shape, even had a heat rash (poor baby)!!! Dr. Jones diagnosed the ears and croup right away and wanted to test her for strep and the flu; thankfully those were negative. He got her on Prednizone and Amoxicillin and sent them on their way to let us nurse her back to good health.
We're happy to report that today, almost a week later, she is almost back to normal and the best part is that our happy, perma-smile baby girl is BACK and in full effect! And we might be a little happy that her sleep routine is back too ;)
As you can see in the pics, the first one was at her worst, second is me and her sleeping as this was one of the only ways she'd sleep for the first couple days and the last one is the other day when we knew she was feeling MUCH BETTER!
On a different note, she hit a milestone on Monday - SITTING TO STANDING by pulling herself up! Mommy has yet to see it, but she is working hard with Daddy each day. She first did this on Monday while at the doctor. Nate was crouching down getting something out of the diaper bag and pretty soon, she had made her way up and managed to find his shoulder to lay her head down (we weren't sure to smile or cry) she was just that miserable, she knew she had to find a way to get to that shoulder!!!! She's also using her baby stroller/walker and greeted me home from work the other day walking with Daddy down the hallway, it was precious! We'll try and get a video soon to post!
That's all for now...til next time!
